Additionally, the RTX 4060 is designed for conserve energy (only 115W from TGP).

One of its standout features is its improved NVIDIA Ada Lovelace GPU architecture, complete with a new SM design and significantly higher clock speeds. These improvements drive the GPU to efficiently execute complex calculations, producing an effortless and realistic gaming experience for users. The RTX 4060 also includes a much larger 2MB L24 cache capacity compared to the RTX 3060, which improves performance and reduces latency, improving efficiency for both gamers and content creators according to NVIDIA.

The RTX 4060 is also equipped with AV1 encoding, which can be used for high-quality streaming with minimal dropouts or delays. In addition, its AI-powered live streaming tools significantly improve the quality and smoothness of professional streaming. In short, the NVIDIA RTX 4060 graphics card is a state-of-the-art tool that delivers advanced features and powerful performance for users seeking the best gaming and content creation experience.

NVIDIA's Ada Lovelace (RTX 40) architecture innovations include:

-Faster and more efficient technology for Artificial Intelligence and graphics. There are new Streaming Multiprocessors that increase performance and save power.
-Tensor Cores and Optical Flow help with AI and improve frame rate.
-Memory subsystem makes the cache bigger and improves performance while saving power.
-Shader Execution Reordering improves ray tracing and increases FPS by up to 44%.

Memory improvement for GeForce RTX 4060 (larger L2 Cache) - According to NVIDIA

The Ada memory system is a huge improvement over older systems because it features a huge 24MB cache (RTX 4060). This makes gaming at 1080p better because less information has to go through system memory. Ada memory system is very good because it runs fast and also consumes little power.

The GPU and memory systems together make games run very smoothly. They use L1 and L2 data caches. The L1 cache is very fast because it is close to the processing parts. But it's small, so if the data isn't there, the GPU gets it from the L2 cache. This is on the same chip and is connected to the rest of the GPU.

If the data is not in the L2 cache, then the GPU has to get it from VRAM. This is not so good because it consumes more power and is slower.

The Ada GPU has an improved memory system with a larger L2 cache. This cache is 16 times larger than that of a 128-bit Ampere GPU. Data can be transferred quickly between cores and L2 cache due to increased bandwidth. Larger L2 cache leads to more L2 cache hits and reduces memory bus traffic.

Ada Lovelace Memory

In short:

The larger L2 cache in Ada improves performance, reduces memory bus traffic, and increases power efficiency for 1080p gaming.

The power requirement of the GeForce RTX 4060 It will depend on the manufacturer, but NVIDIA recommend a 550w power supply.

Like all GPUs in the series GeForceRTX 40, la RTX 4060 is packed with Ada innovations, including Shader Execution Reorganization (SER), new RT core engines, and DLSS-3.

Reminder about DLSS 3

To understand DLSS 3, prior knowledge of DLSS Super Resolution (DLSS 2) is essential. DLSS Super Resolution uses an artificial intelligence model, specifically a convolutional autoencoder, to build a current high-resolution frame based on a current low-resolution frame and a previous high-resolution frame, pixel by pixel.

The AI model was trained to predict a 16K ultra-high-resolution reference image, improving through neural network training using the difference between the predicted and reference image.

After repeating this process numerous times, the network can produce high-quality images. DLSS 3 ushers in a new era where artificial intelligence creates entirely new frames instead of pixels, using four components: an optical flow accelerator, game engine motion vectors, a convolutional autoencoder AI frame generator y a high speed super low latency pipeline reflex.

DLSS-3

DLSS-3 is a technology that uses the power of the Optical Flow Accelerator to provide the neural network with the direction and speed of the pixels from one frame to the next. This enables the generation of entirely new frames without conventional graphics processing, resulting in up to a 4x performance boost in GPU-limited cases (according to NVIDIA) without sacrificing quality.

In addition, DLSS-3 it can benefit both GPU and CPU constrained games, including games with large worlds and physics-based gameplay. By allowing Ada GPUs to render at a much higher frame rate, DLSS-3 provides significant improvements in game performance.

In short:

DLSS 3 analyzes two frames and motion components to generate intermediate frames, increasing performance (more frames per second) without affecting the main GPU rendering process.

With the release and announcement of new generation video cards, we have to update our benchmark (once again). The best processor that we have in our hands to carry out the necessary tests is the processor Intel Core i9-13900K.

A statistic reminder...

Before detailing our configuration system, let's refresh a little what they are AVG FPS y 1% LOW.

AVG FPS (Average FPS): As the name says, it is the average number of frames per second within a specific sequence. It is the most used measure, but it does not detail the whole story, since there are FPS drops.

1%LOW: Within an entire frames per second dataset, the 1% LOW is the value equal to the lowest 1% within the frames dataset (of the specific sequence ordered ascending). In simpler terms, it is the frame where you see the FPS drop that exists within a specific sequence.

Also, we suggest you read any additional feedback about the gaming experience (jerks) that may or may not have existed during testing.

GeForce RTX 4060 feat ASUS Dual OC – Consumption, temperatures, noise

To ensure that our equipment is running at optimal levels, we are launching a new phase of renovation. As part of this process, we are pleased to announce the implementation of a new method for measure GPU consumption.

We will use the performance evaluation tool Furmark, which is capable of reaching a resolution of 3840x2160p, and we'll put it to the test for a period of 15 minutes (or 30 minutes for those using a liquid cooling solution).

In this way, we can effectively determine the maximum temperatures of the video card and establish the level of noise generated under these specific conditions. When playing, it is important to note that consumption can increase from 100 to 120 watts, therefore a complete systematic measurement is strongly recommended.

As a quick tip, those looking for help choosing a suitable minimum power supply for their model can add 100 watts to the recommended voltage or use the manufacturer's guidelines as a helpful reference.

Consumption – Only 115W from TGP, super low and it shows

Regarding power consumption, the GeForce RTX 4060 (ASUS Dual OC Edition) is a fairly efficient GPU, with barely 222 watts required for the entire system using Furmark. However, it is important to note that these values were determined by testing with minimal stress on the processor.

Therefore, they should only be used as a reference and taken with caution.

En general, NVIDIA has achieved clear improvements in consumption, thanks to advances in the manufacturing process of 4 nm de TSMC.

Maximum temperature – Furmark – RTX 4060 - Colder than the heart of your...

After rigorous testing, we have collected data on the thermal performance of the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 OC Edition. We have calculated the ambient temperature delta to be a remarkable 35,8 degrees Celsius, proving that this GPU is capable of exceptional thermal performance.

It is worth noting that the design of ASUS for Dual GeForce RTX 4060 OC It is more than enough for the consumption generated. We will now delve into the topic of noise generated by these GPUs and explore its implications in more detail.

ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 OC Temperatures

Noise – Furmark – ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 OC Edition

The video card ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 OC Edition has performed exceptionally well in the generated noise department. According to measurements, the card produced a noise level of 41.6 decibels. It is important to mention that the average ambient noise level is around 37 decibels with no devices in operation.

Overclock - Under construction - Very good preliminary results

The preliminary results we have show a moderate amount of performance boost on the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 OC Edition graphics card. The preliminary settings we have are:

Voltage: +50mv
Power: 120%
Core Clock: +220MHz
Memory Clock: +1600 MHz

Bonus: DLSS 3 - A Plague Tale: Requiem

There was not much time to test so much information. video card ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 OC Edition It arrived less than twenty-four hours before the embargo was lifted.

Despite this, we can show an updated graph of A Plague Tale: Requiem DLSS 2 vs. DLSS 3 en 1080p.

RTX 4060 DLSS 3

Para ver the review (which we will be updating during the course of the week) from DLSS with A Plague Requiem, you can find it in the following link.

Final Analysis – Trivial improvement over the GeForce RTX 3060 12GB, but great value and power savings

The new graphics card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 it is slightly better than its predecessor, the GeForce RTX 3060 with 12 GB. However, its performance is probably not as many expected, although it is a better release than the criticized one. GeForce RTX 4060 Ti. The raster results section shows that the GeForce RTX 4060 does not outperform the previous generation RTX 3060 Ti.

Being its little sister, we have the same concerns or observations that we highlighted with our review of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, such as the reduced bus width of both cards and that they only come with 8 PCIe 4.0 lanes and could cause some performance loss. on older computers that still use PCIe Gen 3.

Going back to the comparisons, here is a summary of the results compared to its predecessor:

GeForce RTX 4060 vs RTX 3060 (12GB):

– 1080p: +15.70%
– 1440p: +12.62%
– 2160p: +7.96%

On average, our tests show an improvement of the 15,70% in rasterization on the RTX 4060 compared to its predecessor at 1080p. The advantage narrows at 1440p and even more so at 2160p, but the latter resolution isn't essential for card usage. Some titles show above average performance improvements, such as The Plague Tale: Requiem, with an improvement of 23,80% en 1080p compared to the RTX 3060 with 12GB.

Let's also look at the improvement compared to two previous generations with the GeForce RTX 2060.

GeForce RTX 4060 vs. RTX 2060:

– 1080p: +35.14%
– 1440p: +31.85%
– 2160p: +34.22%

We also present a better way to interpret the relative improvement in performance, taking the GeForce RTX 4060 as a baseline.

Relative Performance – GeForce RTX 4060 – 1080p

Relative Performance – GeForce RTX 4060 – 1440p

Relative Performance – GeForce RTX 4060 – 2160p

With the release of the GeForce RTX 4060, the effect will probably be created:

"I'd rather go with a GeForce RTX 4060 Ti."

There is a good difference in performance between the two, favoring the RTX 4060 Ti much more, although its cost is 33.44% more and the price / performance increase is not linear.

It is time for the section that many put a lot of weight, and it is the price / performance or cost per FPS.

Cost per FPS – The metric that crowns the GeForce RTX 4060

When it comes to analyzing the cost of a product, it can be helpful to look at the FPS, or frames per second, and how it compares to the price. In this case, the GeForce RTX 4060 turned out to be the best video card in terms of value for money. For those who prioritize profitability and want to ensure they are getting the best bang for their buck, this metric is especially important to consider. However, while finding a good deal can be exciting, it's crucial to keep in mind that profitability has its limits.

Example of the limits:

-The GeForce RTX 4060 is better value for money than the GeForce RTX 4090, but it is not recommended for 4K UHD Gaming.

It would have been interesting to have the Radeon RX 7600 for a comparison and determine the position of this new graphics card. However, based on available information, the GeForce RTX 4060 has emerged as the new leader in terms of value for money, beating both the 3060GB GeForce RTX 12 and the 4060 Ti. This last option is the second best to consider with respect to this metric.

Based on NVIDIA's indicative price for Peru of 1499 nuevos soles, the GeForce RTX 3060 12GB offers similar value for money at 1300 nuevos soles, though it comes with more VRAM, but lower performance and no access to DLSS 3.

We'll be posting an article on AI and inference soon, but the advances on Ada Lovelace (RTX 40) are significantly higher than Ampere (RTX 30).

Great performance with low power consumption

The GeForce RTX 4060 is simply amazing in this regard, delivering a TGP of 115W while achieving high performance with low power consumption. Odd that NVIDIA recommends a 550W PSU, but the good news is that a 400W PSU is sufficient for this graphics card, although it may take some effort to find a quality one with that wattage.

If you want to save money, you could choose a suitable power supply or upgrade your graphics card without the need for a new power supply, as long as your current supply is of good quality. To make an informed decision, we recommend looking closely at the power consumption section of each graphics card's specifications and comparing them for best results.

Final opinion – Limited generation improvement, lower price, less VRAM, new price/benefit king and an efficient card with DLSS 3

The GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card proves to be the best value option for 1080p gaming according to our reviews, even without considering DLSS 3. Its suggested price reduction puts it right at the top, even at current market prices. in Peru (also in the US), as long as it can be purchased for 1500 nuevos soles or less.

Its generational improvement is limited, with some titles seeing around a 10% improvement and others up to 20% compared to its predecessor. While the generational improvement isn't as poor as what we've seen with the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, it's limited on average.

The reduction in VRAM and PCIe lanes for this generation is interesting to note, but the measured efficiency of this new product is worth noting, especially considering the performance it offers.

It is also important to mention that this review does not consider that the graphics card comes with DLSS 3 (Frame Generation) which is an added bonus, which drastically improves performance when enabled in games that support this feature.
