NVIDIA announces GDC 2025 updates and the launch of Half-Life 2 RTX

The company announced the official arrival of the final version of RTX Remix software, along with DLSS 4, NVIDIA ACE in two new games, and more.

Latin America, March 18, 2025. Prior to the Game Developers Conference (GDC), NVIDIA announced enhancements to its NVIDIA RTX neural rendering technologies, including neural shaders coming to the Microsoft DirectX preview in April, DLSS 4 powered by over 100 games and apps, RTX Remix officially launches alongside a new Half-Life 2 RTX demo, the NVIDIA RTX Kit receives major updates with support for Unreal Engine 5 in RTX Mega Geometry and RTX Hair, and NVIDIA ACE autonomous game characters will debut in two titles.

These were some of the most important announcements:

NVIDIA and Microsoft drive a new era of gaming with neural shading technology

NVIDIA and Microsoft announced that neural shading support is coming to DirectX Preview in April, unlocking Tensor AI Cores on NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs within the graphics shaders used to program video games.

Neural rendering represents a revolution in graphics programming, utilizing AI alongside traditional rendering techniques to boost frame rates, improve image quality, and reduce system resource usage. The NVIDIA RTX Neural Shader SDK enables developers to optimize game data and shader code on a PC with RTX AI and accelerate neural rendering and model weights with NVIDIA Tensor Cores at runtime. This significantly improves the performance of neural rendering techniques, enabling faster and more efficient real-time rendering with Tensor Cores.

RTX comes to Unreal Engine 5

NVIDIA has launched support for Unreal Engine 5 on RTX Mega Geometry and RTX Hair through the NVIDIA RTX branch of Unreal Engine.

NVIDIA RTX Kit is a suite of neural rendering technologies for ray tracing in AI-powered games, rendering images withcanteen geometry and create game characters with more realistic visuals. NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs introduce a major advancement in ray tracing acceleration for details like hair: a new Linear-Swept Sphere (LSS) primitive. This primitive is a step toward rendering high-quality digital humans in real time, replacing typical triangle primitives with spheres that can represent hair with greater accuracy and performance.

During CES, NVIDIA showcased the possibilities of neural rendering with an impressive tech demo, ZorahAt GDC, an updated version of the demo Zorah, built in Unreal Engine 5 will showcase the latest advancements in neural rendering, including RTX Mega Geometry, RTX Hair, ReSTIR Path Tracing, and ReSTIR Direct Illumination.

NVIDIA RTX Remix officially launches with DLSS 4 and RTX Neural Shaders

In 2024, NVIDIA launched RTX Remix in Open Beta, a revolutionary modding platform that allows modders to remaster classic games with RTX. Today, NVIDIA officially launches an enhanced version of RTX Remix, featuring DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, a host of new RTX Neural Rendering technologies, and numerous updates, allowing modders to create remasters with improved image quality and higher frame rates.

To demonstrate the capabilities of RTX Remix and the power of the latest RTX innovations, owners of Half-Life 2 You will be able to download a free demo of Half Life 2 RTX from Steam starting March 18th. Half Life 2 RTX, developed by leading mo teamsdding of the game under the name of Orbifold Studios, features full ray tracing, remastered assets, DLSS 4, Reflex, RTX Neural Radiance Cache, RTX Skin and RTX Volumetrics.

More than 100 games and apps with DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation are now available.

DLSS 4 arrived with the launch of the GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, and now over 100 games and apps include support for DLSS 4 due to its strong acceptance by game developers. This milestone is two years ahead of DLSS 3., making it NVIDIA’s fastest-adopted gaming technology ever.

DLSS 4 debuted with Multi Frame Generation, which uses AI to generate up to three additional frames for every traditionally rendered frame, working in conjunction with DLSS technologies to boost frame rates up to 8x compared to traditional rendering. This performance boost for GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards and laptops allows gamers to maximize graphics at the highest resolutions and play at unmatched frame rates..

In addition to the 100 games and applications currently available, Lost Soul Aside, Mecha BREAK, Phantom Blade Zero, Stellar Blade, Tides of Annihilation y Wild Assault will launch with DLSS 4, giving GeForce RTX gamers the ultimate PC experience..

NVIDIA ACE Autonomous AI Characters Available in inZOI and NARAKA: BLADEPOINT MOBILE for PC

Earlier this year, NVIDIA introduced Nvidia Ace, an AI technology that enables the creation of autonomous game characters, adding autonomous teammates, NPCs, and enemies to video games, unlocking new gameplay possibilities. These NVIDIA ACE autonomous AI characters will be available this month in:

  • inZOI
  • NARAKA: BLADEPOINT MOBILE for PC

In the life simulator inZOI, Players will be able to customize 'Smart Zoi' NPCs using AI to guide their behavior and interactions with other NPCs.

In NARAKA: BLADEPOINT MOBILE for PC, NVIDIA ACE-powered teammates will help players battle enemies, hunt for bounties, and compete to win.

NVIDIA ACE technologies continue to advance, integrating new language models for vision and audio, improving facial animation with new model architectures, and accelerating game development with new ACE plugins for Maya and Unreal Engine for creating offline content:

  • Black Vultures: Prey of Greed will implement the language and voice models of Nvidia Ace.
  • Fate Trigger will incorporate NVIDIA ACE Audio2Face-3D.
