Intel Extends Leadership in AI-Enabled PCs and Edge Computing at CES 2025

Intel pushes the boundaries of AI performance and energy efficiency for businesses and consumers, paving the way for the next era of AI computing.

LAS VEGAS, January 6, 2025 – Today at CES 2025, Intel introduced the new Intel® Core™ Ultra processors (2 Series), designed to revolutionize mobile computing for businesses, creators, and enthusiast gamers. The latest additions to the Intel Core Ultra family deliver cutting-edge AI improvements, increased efficiency, and optimized performance.

intel core ultra series 200HX y H: Empowering creators and players

For gamers and creators, Intel is introducing the Core Ultra 200HX and H series mobile processors, delivering unmatched performance, efficiency, and platform capabilities, along with a historic reduction in power consumption. These processors fuel mobile creativity and provide gamers with an immersive experience, powered by advanced AI acceleration.

Key features of the Intel Core Ultra 200HX and H Series Mobile Processors include: 

  • Up to 24 cores: Up to eight performance (P) cores and 16 efficiency (E) cores on the HX series, and up to 16 cores on the H series, including six P cores, eight E cores, and two power-efficient E cores. Based on Intel’s latest architecture, these processors deliver up to 41% faster multi-threaded (MT) performance on the Intel Core Ultra 200HX series compared to previous models⁶. 
  • The Intel Core Ultra 200H series integrates Intel® Arc™ graphics with up to eight Intel® Xº cores and Intel® Xº Matrix (XMX) to accelerate AI, resulting in up to 22% faster gaming performance compared to the previous generation H⁷ series processors. Additionally, these processors deliver up to 99 TOPS (trillion operations per second) when the GPU, CPU, and NPU work together, optimizing efficiency for AI-intensive tasks. 
  • The Intel Core Ultra 200HX processor is Intel’s first AI-powered mobile PC aimed at enthusiasts, equipped with an integrated NPU that delivers up to 13 TOPS performance. 
  • The Intel Core Ultra 200HX processor provides the ultimate in bandwidth and connectivity, with up to 48 total PCIe lanes (including PCIe 4.0 and 5.0) to connect the latest discrete GPUs and storage solutions. 
  • Packaging innovations have reduced processor size by 33%, enabling thinner, lighter high-end designs without sacrificing performance. 

Select Intel Core Ultra 200HX SKUs will offer overclocking options to further tune performance, with key features including: 

  • Computer overclocking for P-cores and E-cores. 
  • Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) support for DDR5 SODIMM overclocking. 
  • New overclocking interfaces, including die-to-die and fabric, and 16.6 MHz controls. 
  • Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility enables one-click overclocking via the Intel® Speed ​​Optimizer feature. 

Additionally, Intel introduced the Intel Core Ultra 200U mobile processors, featuring up to two performance (P) cores and eight efficiency (E) cores, Intel Xº LPG graphics, and up to 24 TOPS of performance. Intel Core Ultra 200U series systems offer an excellent balance of performance, energy efficiency, and price. 

On the other hand, Intel is expanding its Intel Core Ultra 200S desktop processor lineup with 12 new 65- and 35-watt options, with up to eight P cores and 16 E cores, providing an impressive combination of performance and energy efficiency for tasks such as gaming, content creation and productivity. 

Intel Core Ultra (2 Series) platforms also feature premium connectivity, with features including: 

  • High-speed networking, improved responsiveness, and increased reliability with support for Intel® Wi-Fi 7 (5 Gig) and the fastest, most reliable connection via USB-C with Thunderbolt™ 5 or Thunderbolt™ 4 technology. 
  • Continuous AI-powered network optimization with Intel® Connectivity Performance Suite software. 
  • High-quality, energy-efficient audio with Intel® Bluetooth® LE. 
    Easily share screens, keyboard, mouse, storage and files between two PCs using Thunderbolt™ Share. 

AI Optimization for the Edge

Intel also introduced a new set of edge computing processors designed to deliver scalability and superior performance across a variety of use cases. Intel Core Ultra processors deliver remarkable energy efficiency, making them ideal for AI workloads at the edge, with performance gains that outperform competing products in critical metrics like media processing and AI analytics. 

The new Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 processors show massive performance improvements on AI workloads compared to the previous generation, setting a new benchmark for AI capabilities at the Edge. When comparing the Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 285H to the 185H, performance is up to 2,2x faster in Procyon AI computer vision, up to 3,3x faster in Llama 3 8B, and up to 2,3x faster in stable diffusion 1.5¹⁰. 

TOPS alone do not define real-world performance needs at the Edge. At about a third less TOPS than Nvidia’s Jetson AGX Orin, the Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 processor outperforms its competitor with up to 5,8x faster media throughput, up to 3,4x faster video analytics performance, and up to 8,2x better performance per watt per dollar¹¹. 

Key edge products launching today at CES include: 

  • Intel® Core™ Ultra processors 200S/H/U series (codenamed Arrow Lake). 
  • Intel® Core™ 200S/H series processors (codenamed Bartlett Lake S and Raptor Lake H Refresh). 
  • Intel® Core™ 100U series processors (codenamed Raptor Lake U Refresh). 
  • Intel® Core™ 3 processor and Intel® processor (codenamed Twin Lake). 

Products available now

Systems powered by the Intel Core Ultra 200V series and Intel vPro platform will be available online and in stores beginning January 6, 2025, as well as through OEM partners.  

Models based on the Intel Core Ultra 200H and U series will arrive in February 2025, while systems based on the Intel Core Ultra 200HX series will be available in the first half of 2025, with more details to follow closer to launch. The 200-watt and 65-watt Intel Core Ultra 35S series desktop processors will be available beginning January 13, 2025.
