ASUS issues statement on damage to Ryzen 7000 series processors

der8auer has managed to get a statement from an ASUS representative (thanks to a long-standing friendship with the company) which explains why AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors would be burning up. The explanation given by the company indicates that the voltages that are creating these problems are related to two variables:

-AMD Expo (AMD's XMP version)
-SoC (System on Chip) voltages

Here is the statement he gave rajinder gill de ASUS a Der8auer:

“The EFI updates released on Friday contain some specific thermal management mechanisms that we have implemented to help protect motherboards and CPUs. We have removed the old BIOSes for that reason and also because manual Vcore control was available in previous versions. We are also working with AMD to define new rules for AMD Expo and SoC voltage. We will post new updates about it as soon as possible. Please be patient."

As we previously reported, the damage caused by burned Ryzen 7000 processors would not be exclusively related to processors with 3D V-Cache. Also regular processors could end up burning. Der8auer demonstrated another AMD Ryzen 9 7900X processor with damage similar to the images seen on X3D processors at the previous post.

According to the Youtuber, the only common variable of all affected users to date is that they have had the AMD Expo option activated. Many old BIOS from manufacturers (ASUS, GIGABYTE, MSI, etc) are no longer available on the web, so it is suggested to update to new BIOS to prevent any damage and stay tuned for motherboard news and updates.
